AREAS CLASSIFICATION STUDY
The Area Classification Study is an analysis method for the classification of the environment and process equipment, in order to assess the potential risk of explosion of combustible substances present, identify, grade and delimit the risk of formation or presence of explosive atmospheres , and serve as a parameter for selecting equipment, as well as for defining the relevant risk control measures.
For the correct specification of electrical equipment and other associated equipment applied in industries that have areas at risk of explosions, it is essential to consult the unit's area classification plan. Only in this way can the designer of the electrical installation guarantee the safety of the installation and users.
The area classification study must be carried out according to the criteria indicated and established by the NBR IEC 60079-10-1 and NBR IEC 60079-10-2 standards.
